Most cost pages for Pakistan quote a number nobody stands behind. This page prints only fees that providers publish on their own websites, each with its source, read on 2 September 2026. It also sets out the free routes, because in Pakistan the free layer is real and most cost pages never mention it.

What private care actually publishes

A therapy session with a psychologist or psychotherapist in Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad commonly advertises at PKR 2,500 to 8,000 for 45 to 60 minutes. Established or specialised practices reach PKR 12,000 to 15,000. Those are advertised prices, not official rates, and the practices below are the evidence.

In Karachi, House of Pebbles advertises individual sessions from PKR 2,500 to 3,000, and couples counselling from PKR 5,500.1 The Healing Lounge, a Karachi platform, states that therapy sessions typically cost PKR 5,000 to 12,000, with a free ten-minute first consultation.2

Sometimes you just need someone qualified to talk to. Find a counsellor near you — independent, professional, and ready to listen.

Find a Counsellor

In Islamabad, SOCH Clinics publishes PKR 7,000 for a 60-minute psychological consultation at its G8 Markaz branch, and PKR 6,000 at its Bahria Town branch in Rawalpindi.3 The Meeting Matters in F-11 lists PKR 5,000 to 15,000 per session depending on the therapist and session type, with a 20 percent discount for full-time students.4

In Lahore, Healing with Attia charges PKR 5,000 for a 50-minute session, held online.5

Psychiatrists price differently, and mixing the two muddies any average. A psychiatric consultation is shorter and billed per visit: SOCH lists PKR 6,000 for 30 to 40 minutes,3 and Care Life Clinic in Lahore, led by an American Board certified psychiatrist, lists PKR 3,500 for an initial evaluation, PKR 6,000 for a 30-minute follow-up and PKR 12,000 for a 60-minute one.6

What moves the price

Five things explain most of the spread in the advertised fees above. The city and the neighbourhood: Islamabad clinic rates sit above Karachi entry fees. The provider's qualification: the one US board certified psychiatrist found charges the top of the market, while platform psychologists with local credentials list PKR 1,500 to 3,500. Session length: SOCH prices 60 minutes above its 30 to 40 minute consultations. Session type: couples and family work costs more everywhere it is itemised. And time itself: fees have risen sharply in recent years, so any figure ages quickly, which is why every number here carries its date.

Online therapy fees

Online sessions through Pakistani platforms start lower than clinic fees. On SehatYab, psychologists and counsellors list from PKR 1,500, with most 45-minute sessions at PKR 2,000 to 3,500; psychiatrists list PKR 2,000 to 7,250 for 20 to 45 minutes.7 Independent online practices price like clinics: Healing with Attia's PKR 5,000 Zoom session costs the same as many in-person hours.5 An online session is usually not much cheaper than one in a consulting room when it is the same practitioner; the platform listings are where the lower prices sit.

The free layer, which most cost pages skip

Free help exists before any private fee. The Taskeen helpline offers free telephonic mental health support nationwide on 0316 8275336, Monday to Saturday, 11 am to 11 pm.8 Rozan runs a counselling helpline on 0304 111 1741, Monday to Friday, working especially with women and children.9

In Karachi, Karwan-e-Hayat, a charitable psychiatric hospital, advertises free screening and treatment through more than 23 community clinics.10 The Sindh Mental Health Authority lists government helplines answered at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in Karachi on 021 111 117 642 and at the Sir Cowasjee Institute in Hyderabad on 022 111 117 642, from 9 am to 3 pm.11

Public hospital psychiatry departments do see outpatients, and the registration fee is small, but no government hospital published its outpatient fee schedule where we could read it, so this page prints no figure for that route. Ask the hospital directly.

Will insurance pay?

Probably not for outpatient therapy, and you should check your own policy rather than take any page's word for it. Private health plans in Pakistan are largely hospitalisation products, and the policy wording we could reach did not confirm outpatient psychotherapy cover. If you hold a policy, the question to ask your insurer is specific: does this plan pay for outpatient sessions with a psychologist?

Paying less without waiting

Many practitioners keep reduced-fee places and set the reduction after asking about your income, so it is worth asking rather than assuming the answer. Student discounts are published by at least one Islamabad practice.4 Group therapy costs less per session where it is offered. And the free helplines above are staffed by trained counsellors, not answering machines; for many people they are a real first step while deciding about private therapy. If you need someone now

If you are in immediate danger, contact your nearest emergency department. For crisis lines you can dial from Pakistan, see all crisis lines in Pakistan. To speak to a practitioner, the Pakistan listing on TherapyRoute shows who practises where, and profiles list a fee where the practitioner has given one; asking them is the way to be sure.
