Therapy fees in Lebanon are quoted in US dollars. Not in Lebanese lira: every advertised private fee this page found is priced in dollars, or occasionally in euros, while the lira has lost nearly 97 percent of its value since 2019.7 Any page telling you fees track local incomes is describing a market that no longer exists. This page prints only fees that providers publish themselves, each with its source, read on 2 September 2026, and it sets out the free national layer, which in Lebanon is unusually strong.

What private care actually publishes

Private psychotherapy with a psychologist or psychotherapist in Beirut commonly advertises at USD 30 to 100 per session of 45 to 60 minutes. Senior or specialised practitioners reach USD 100 to 120, and one fee of €100 was found. Those are advertised prices in the currency each provider publishes, and the practices below are the evidence.

Cognitive Analytica, a Beirut practice working online and in person, states that sessions with its fully licensed psychologists "start at $45 per session", with senior licensed therapists "available from $60 per session". Its Supervised Online Therapy tier, run by therapists-in-training and counsellors under formal supervision by licensed psychologists, is priced at $30 per session and is labelled as exactly that.1 The same practice describes its own market as ranging between $30 and $150 or more per session; a provider characterising its own market, so context rather than evidence.1

Sometimes you just need someone qualified to talk to. Find a counsellor near you — independent, professional, and ready to listen.

Find a Counsellor

Embrace, the NGO that runs the national Lifeline, also operates an online clinic with fees set per clinician: 80 USD, 100 USD or 120 USD per session depending on who you see. It is aimed at Lebanese and Arabic-speaking people abroad, and a portion of each fee funds low-cost care at Embrace's Beirut centre.2 Treat it as the diaspora-facing top of the market rather than a typical in-country price.

Independent Beirut therapists who set their own fees on the It's Complicated platform cluster inside the band. Douaa Harb, a counsellor working online, lists US$60 for a 50-minute individual session, a sliding-scale tier at US$40, and a free 15-minute introductory call.3 Noor Wehbe, a clinical psychologist and psychodynamic psychotherapist seeing clients in person and online, lists US$80.4 Petra Ziade, a clinical psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist of more than 17 years practising in Matn District in Greater Beirut, lists €100 for 45 minutes.5 Hanadi, a psychodynamic counsellor working online, lists €45 for an hour.6

The published research and reporting agree with this band. A 2024 study in PLOS Global Public Health found private-clinic session fees varied between $20 and $100.8 Al Jazeera, reporting in 2025, quoted a Lebanese psychologist putting sessions at between $40 and $100, "more than many can afford".7

What moves the price

Currency is the story. Fees are set in dollars against incomes that collapsed in lira terms; Al Jazeera's worked example is a displaced salon worker earning $400 a month for whom a $40 to $100 session is out of reach, and out-of-pocket payments rose from 33.1 percent of health spending in 2018 to over 85 percent in 2022.78 After that, four things explain most of the spread. The licensure pathway: Cognitive Analytica prices supervised therapists-in-training at $30 against licensed therapists from $45 and senior therapists from $60.1 Seniority and specialisation: within Embrace's own panel fees run 80 to 120 USD by clinician, and the most experienced practitioner found lists €100 while a counsellor lists US$40 to US$60.235 The client market: diaspora-facing fees sit above the in-country cluster.2 And the largest step of all is subsidised versus private: the same city holds $30 to $120 sessions and a free national layer.

One caveat on scope. All the fee evidence here is from Greater Beirut and from English-language pages. What therapy costs outside Beirut is not documented on this page, because no published figure was found.

The free layer, which most cost pages skip

Lebanon's subsidised layer is nationally organised, and a fee page that ignores it misleads. The Lifeline 1564 is the national emotional-support and suicide-prevention line: free, anonymous, available 24/7, run by Embrace in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health's National Mental Health Programme, with mobile crisis teams in Beirut, Tripoli and Tyre. It has answered 72,595 calls since 2017.91011

The Embrace Mental Health Center in Beirut offers psychotherapy, psychiatric consultations and group therapy "at low fees, set to be affordable so that everyone can access the care they need", with access to free medications; it reports 26,754 consultations since 2020. It publishes no fee figure, so this page prints none; contact the clinic on +961 81 003 870 or clinic@embracelebanon.org and ask.12

Step by Step, the ministry's guided self-help programme, is confidential and free of charge: a weekly support call from a trained E-Helper for five weeks, by app or website, weekdays 10 am to 6 pm. It is guided self-help, not psychotherapy.10 The ministry also maps mental-health services offered "at free or nominal fees" on its 4Ws platform, and publishes a list of primary health care centres in its network with an operating psychiatrist. What a centre visit costs the patient is not stated on the ministry's page, so this page prints no figure for that route; ask the centre directly.10 IDRAAC, a long-standing Lebanese mental-health NGO in Achrafieh, runs a 24/7 hotline on +961 3 730 475 and reports more than 16,600 hotline calls.13

Will insurance pay?

Usually not for outpatient therapy, and no NSSF policy document could be verified for this page, so what follows rests on published research. The 2024 PLOS study reports that the NSSF reimburses in lira at outdated rates and can cover only around 10 percent of health care costs, with claims described as tedious enough that many insured people forgo them. The same study found private health insurance schemes do not explicitly cover mental health services, with only one or two companies having integrated it into their packages.8 Cognitive Analytica's own cost page says the same from the provider side: coverage remains limited and varies widely, and many people pay out of pocket.1 If you hold a policy, the question to ask is specific: does this plan pay for outpatient sessions with a psychologist, in dollars?

Paying less without waiting

The published evidence shows the low-cost routes are real. At least one Beirut therapist publishes a sliding-scale tier, US$40 against a standard US$60, with a free introductory call, so it is worth asking about reduced fees rather than assuming the answer.3 Supervised therapy with a therapist-in-training, under formal supervision by a licensed psychologist, is published at $30 per session and is a legitimate labelled pathway, not a lesser secret.1 Embrace's Beirut centre exists precisely for people priced out of the dollar market.12 Read how to find affordable therapy for the approaches that work in any country, and how to choose a therapist before you spend anything.

If you need someone now

If you are in immediate danger, contact your nearest emergency department. From anywhere in Lebanon you can call the Lifeline on 1564, free and anonymous, at any hour.9 For other numbers you can dial from Lebanon, see all crisis lines in Lebanon. To speak to a practitioner, the Lebanon listing on TherapyRoute shows who practises where, and profiles list a fee where the practitioner has given one; asking them is the way to be sure.
