What therapy costs in Israel
Israel moved mental health into the health funds on 1 July 2015. Before that date the Ministry of Health carried the insurance responsibility itself. A person now starts with their own health fund and asks what treatment it offers.
Government clinics remain an alternative. Because mental health sits inside the statutory basket, the cost is a quarterly excess or nothing. The Ministry also publishes a price list that bands its prices by payer.

Who is allowed to practise
In Israel, psychologist is a protected title. Only a practitioner listed on the Ministry of Health's Psychologists' Register, the Pinkas HaPsychologim, is legally authorised to use it. The register carries the general title alongside the clinical, educational and rehabilitation specialisms, so it will tell you which of those a person actually holds. It is a psychologists' list and answers for that title rather than for every therapist.
You can check a psychologist on the Ministry of Health register. Israeli law says nothing about who may practise psychotherapy, so psychotherapist is not a protected title. The Ministry of Health does not recognise titles such as emotional therapist and coach, so ask which regulated profession a person holds.
