What therapy costs in Iraq
Iraq's Public Health Law No. 89 of 1981 governs charging in the state system. Treatment, laboratory analyses and radiological examinations are free for people in the free rooms of state health institutions.
The Ministry of Health may levy fees on people who visit state curative institutions. It may also levy them on people in rented rooms. Those fees are fixed by a regulation issued under the law, not by the law itself.
The same law makes the ministry responsible for psychological, mental and neurological health services. It is to establish the preventive and curative institutions those services need. Preventive mental health work is to run from birth to old age.
