Tim Dixon

Registered Psychotherapist

To nurture the resilience of families in a crisis, or couples struggling with unhealthy conflict, I draw upon both my clinical training & lived experience. Compassion and curiosity direct my support of young adults and adolescents (17 or older) with ADHD.

About Me

I am a Registered Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor in Acton, Ontario.

Approach

Our in-person or online therapy sessions could be guided by my use of Emotionally-Focused Therapy or Acceptance & Commitment Therapy approaches. My lived experience with ADHD and mental health challenges was deepened by my bounce-back journey from the trauma of a catastrophic car crash in 2016. Ten years as a suicide prevention trainer plus 20yrs of crisis-line volunteering has helped hone my listening skills.

Basic Information

Services

Clients seeking to re-establish a sense of emotional well-being will value my collaborative approach. Compassion and curiosity direct my support of young adults and adolescents (15 or older) with ADHD, whose impulsivity or impaired organizational skills often also burdens them with guilt and low self-esteem. Whether a mood disorder or social anxiety is interfering with enjoying your workplace experiences, together we will develop coping strategies to help you thrive.

Young adult struggling with the next phase of independence, families or couples establishing boundaries and expectations of each other are also areas we can address. Supporting others during difficult transitions has been the foundation of my career, whether helping incarcerated youth set a new life path or leadership teams immersed in organizational change.
