Dr Tegan van der Westhuizen

Licensed Educational Psychologist

My greatest passions lies in supporting children, adolescents, young adults and parents as they learn to overcome challenges by realising their own unique strengths and abilities. I offer psychotherapy and various psychological assessments.

About Me

I am a Licensed Educational Psychologist in Bryanston, Gauteng, South Africa. I work with children and families facing ADHD, autism (ASD), anxiety, conduct issues, and life transitions. I offer child psychological and diagnostic assessments, counseling, and psychoeducation to create clear, practical plans.

Approach

Helping young people and parents recognise strengths guides how I structure sessions: I keep them gentle, practical and goal-focused. In Sandton I work in English and offer both in-person and online appointments, pacing sessions to suit age and attention. Therapy combines short, focused conversations, play or developmental tasks for younger children, and evidence-informed assessment when clarity is needed, with simple psychoeducation and home or school strategies between sessions. This way of working suits families seeking clear, compassionate support through transitions, learning or behavioural challenges.
