Tawag Paglaum Centro Bisaya is a government run program by Department of Health and Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, with the goal of providing interventions of people having emotional crisis particularly with suicidal risks. This operates through a call based service with lines open 24/7 from Monday - Sunday.
Responders attending the calls are mental health professionals who are adept in assisting the callers in any way possible. The intervention is made by means of emphatic responses, active listening and interactions in a non-provocative and non-aggressive manner.
Offering advice is limited yet, they will be given a referral to professionals handling counselling, psychological and psychiatric facilities to better cater their needs.
In cases that the callers may need support groups, they can also be provided referrals to the available facility to their nearest location.
Cases are also assessed depending on the severity of the risk depending on the symptoms of depression of the callers and their suicidal ideations.
Apart from handling cases from our callers, we can also discuss topics such as suicide and depression, its scope and causes in the mass society.
