About Me

Hi, welcome to my page. It is nice to meet you. It is so brave of you for taking this first step towards taking care of your mental health. I am Darshini, a Licensed and Registered Counsellor here in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Malaysia. I have been a counsellor for the last 7 years and have had the utmost pleasure of journeying with clients from various backgrounds, ethnicities and lived experiences. My work revolves around the integration of a few therapeutic modalities, and it is carefully crafted to support each client who comes in to see me: Choice & Reality Therapy (CTRT), Synergy, Awareness & Insight Therapy (SAIT), Gestalt Therapy, Culturally Sensitive Therapy, Humanistic Psychology (humanism), Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Creative & Expressive Interventions, Systems Theory /Therapy, Developmental Psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Interventions, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Adlerian Psychology / Psychotherapy Approach, Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). I utilise multiple lenses to work with challenges presented by my clients and this gives me an in depth view of what is happening in my client’s lives. I use a lot of creative interventions to explore deep seated issues, emotional and behavioural patterns that keep clients stuck and have a vast psychological toolkit to help clients uncover what is beneath the surface. In my counselling work, I support clients in areas such as: Grief, Loss & Bereavement, Trauma (i.e. sexual abuse/sexual assault/molestation/RAPE, physical abuse, psychological/emotional abuse), Anxiety, Depression, Suicidality, Self-harm, Current Life & Past Issues (i.e. aspects that keep you stuck/repeating patterns), Inner Child Work, Personal Development, Self-Awareness and Sense of Self, Adjustment & Life Transition Challenges, Chronic Illness Management & Coming to terms with a Difficult Diagnosis, Relationship Difficulties, Career Development & Career-related struggles, Multiracial and Multicultural Challenges. Remember you are not alone and you don’t have to carry everything by yourself. Make your mental health a priority! Your wellbeing is important to me. Please reach out when you are ready or need to.

Approach

Everyone has a story within them and YOUR story matters to me. If you are wondering if your issues are worth talking about and getting support for, allow me to share with you this thought from Viktor Frankl a Holocaust survivor, “To draw an analogy: a man's suffering is similar to the behavior of a gas. If a certain quantity of gas is pumped into an empty chamber, it will fill the chamber completely and evenly, no matter how big the chamber. Thus suffering completely fills the human soul and conscious mind, no matter whether the suffering is great or little. Therefore the "size" of human suffering is absolutely relative.” YOUR pain, YOUR difficulties, YOUR suffering and whatever it is that YOU are going through big or small matters. If it is impacting your life and you often find yourself pondering about it do reach out.

I will listen to you attentively with all of my being, I will provide you a safe space for you to be you, to express yourself, to work through the things that have brought you through my door and together we will work towards the things you want for your life. I work with the whole person, even parts of you that you think are not welcomed are welcome in the space I provide so that when all parts are embraced healing can take place. I also work with a person in a systemic way by taking into account the system a person in when I counsel because everything is related to each other in some way.

Make your mental health a priority! Reach out when you are ready or need to as my doors are always open and we can find a way together to support YOU!
