About me

I’m Richard Turnham, LPC-S, LADC-S, owner of Authentic Counseling Services in Tulsa. I bring 17 years of experience helping people navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction, and relationship challenges. I especially enjoy working with people who want to understand themselves more deeply and use that insight to make changes. With couples, I help partners explore recurring conflict, improve communication, and rebuild connection. I also work with families and people affected by a loved one’s addiction, helping them navigate hurt, boundaries, trust, and recovery. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. We can start with what is troubling you and work together to understand what would help.

Approach

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. We start by understanding what brings you to therapy, what you have already tried, and what you hope will change. Together, we explore patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and relationships, then work on ways to respond differently. In couples counseling, we focus on understanding each other, interrupting unhelpful patterns, and developing healthier communication. In family and addiction-related work, we explore how relationships have been affected and what boundaries, support, and next steps make sense. I offer in-person counseling in Tulsa and televideo sessions for clients located in Oklahoma.
