Hi, I'm Richard and my passion as a counsellor is to help people recover from the trauma associated with experiences of intense control, manipulation and psychological abuse. This might come in the form of: domestic abuse, coercive and controlling behaviour in families, human trafficking / modern slavery, spiritual/religious abuse, coercive control in cults/high demand groups/totalitarian groups, workplace bullying and psychological abuse etc.
Upon escaping from an abusive environment, people often feel confused, struggle with low self-esteem, identity issues and feel like the departure has left them with a huge void in their life. My aim as a counsellor is to help clients make sense of their experience, work through trauma caused by it, and rebuild their lives.
I am an ex-cult member as well as a qualified counsellor and have experienced first hand the impact psychological abuse and coercive controlling behaviour can have on a person. I have completed a masters degree in the 'Psychology of Coercive Control' and helping people recover from this kind of abuse is my passion.
(PLEASE NOTE: I am only offering online counselling at this moment due to the COVID-19 outbreak and also because I am relocating and in the process of searching for a new counselling room. Online counselling is priced at £30 per 50 min video call)
