Mrs Renee Jansen van Vuuren

Registered Counselor

A Registered Educational Counsellor specializing in Play Therapy with a private practice in Strand. I also go into schools if needed.

About Me

As a Registered Educational Counsellor, I specialise in Play Therapy at my Strand practice. Children often express feelings through play that they can’t yet name. Here, they find a safe space to explore emotions and build confidence. I also offer school visits, providing flexible support where needed. My gentle approach helps families support children navigating big emotions or school challenges.

Approach

Specialising in play-based work from my Strand practice, I pay attention to how children tell their stories through movement, drawings and toys so we can gently follow what matters to them. Sessions are hands-on and paced to each child, with short activities, reflective pauses and careful observations that feed into focused assessments when needed. I share clear, practical feedback in Afrikaans or English with parents and teachers and sometimes visit schools to align support. This way of working tends to suit families seeking calm, practical help for restlessness, worry or learning hurdles.
