Mr Peter McKay

Registered Psychotherapist

An experienced Somatic Psychotherapist working with adults and children in Melbourne CBD.

About Me

I help adults and children connect with their inner experience, particularly when words feel insufficient. As a Somatic Psychotherapist, I guide clients to understand how their body holds emotions and past events. We might gently explore physical sensations and breath, offering a pathway to release tension and find calm. This approach is ideal for those seeking to move beyond feeling stuck, fostering deeper self-awareness and resilience.

Approach

Based in Melbourne CBD, my sessions invite slow, attentive noticing of what you feel and where it shows up in your body, so the work is experienced as much as talked about. In-session we alternate gentle movement, breath awareness and focused reflection, pacing each step to what feels safe; between sessions I may suggest simple practices to strengthen regulation and build insight. The process is collaborative and practical, suited to adolescents, adults and parents seeking relief from anxiety, trauma or behaviour patterns and clearer self-understanding.
