About me

Blum Psyche is an independent, multilingual psychotherapy practice founded by Paula Blum, a psychologist licensed in Brazil (CRP 05/82314), based in Rio de Janeiro. Our practice offers individualized online psychotherapy in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, with a particular focus on emotional well-being, self-understanding, relationships, identity, and meaningful personal transformation. What Makes Blum Psyche Different? 1. Depth-Oriented, Integrative Psychotherapy Our therapeutic approach is grounded in Jungian Analytical Psychology, Phenomenology, and Humanistic Psychology. Rather than focusing exclusively on symptoms, we explore the emotional experiences, recurring relational patterns, personal narratives, and underlying psychological processes that shape each individual's life. 2. A Multicultural and Multilingual Perspective We provide psychotherapy in three languages, with sensitivity to cultural identity, belonging, adaptation, and the emotional complexities of living between different cultures. Our approach is particularly relevant to internationally mobile individuals, expatriates, and multilingual clients, subject to applicable professional regulations. 3. Symbolism, Dreams & Self-Discovery Drawing from Jungian psychology, we offer opportunities to explore dreams, personal symbolism, emotional associations, and unconscious patterns as pathways toward deeper self-awareness. These elements are approached collaboratively, without imposing fixed interpretations. 4. Personalized, Relationship-Centered Care We recognize that no two psychological journeys are alike. Therapy is shaped around each client's emotional needs, personal history, values, and therapeutic goals, with an emphasis on empathetic listening, trust, confidentiality, and a meaningful therapeutic relationship. Areas of Clinical Support Anxiety, stress, and emotional regulation Grief, loss, and major life transitions Relationship difficulties and attachment patterns Self-esteem, identity, and personal development Emotional distress and recurring psychological patterns Existential questions, meaning, and self-discovery Cross-cultural adjustment and belonging Our Philosophy At Blum Psyche, we believe psychotherapy should be both scientifically informed and deeply human. We bring together psychological theory, clinical reflection, symbolic exploration, and attentive listening to create a space where individuals can better understand themselves, develop emotional resources, and navigate life with greater awareness and authenticity. We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to mental health. We believe in understanding the person behind the symptoms. Approach

My therapeutic approach integrates Jungian Analytical Psychology, Phenomenology, and Humanistic Psychology, combining depth-oriented exploration with a compassionate, person-centered understanding of human experience. Inspired by Carl Gustav Jung's work, I understand psychotherapy as an opportunity to explore both conscious experiences and the less familiar aspects of our inner world. Emotions, dreams, recurring relationship patterns, memories, and symbols can offer meaningful perspectives on how we understand ourselves and relate to others. The phenomenological perspective is equally important to my practice. Rather than approaching people through predefined interpretations, I seek to understand how each individual experiences life, relationships, difficulties, and personal meaning. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative journey, not a process of fitting someone into a diagnosis or an interpretation. Depending on your individual needs, our sessions may involve: - Exploring emotional experiences and relationship patterns. - Understanding anxiety, grief, insecurity, and personal transitions. - Reflecting on identity, self-esteem, and existential questions. - Exploring dreams, symbols, and personal narratives when appropriate. - Developing greater emotional awareness, self-understanding, and autonomy. My work is guided by professional ethics, confidentiality, attentive listening, and respect for your individual pace. At Blum Psyche, there is no expectation to arrive with all the answers. We can begin with whatever feels important to you. Sometimes, meaningful change begins simply by finding a space where you feel safe enough to be yourself.

Services

✦ Therapeutic Services | Blum Psyche - An Integrative Journey Through Psychology, Meaning & Self-Discovery - At Blum Psyche, I believe that every life story deserves to be explored with depth, compassion, and genuine curiosity. My therapeutic practice is rooted in Jungian Analytical Psychology, integrating phenomenological and humanistic perspectives, alongside concepts from Viktor Frankl's Logotherapy and Freudian psychoanalytic theory. Rather than approaching psychotherapy through a single theoretical lens, I draw upon complementary psychological perspectives to understand each person's unique emotional world, personal history, relationships, and individual needs. ✦ Theoretical Foundations Jungian Analytical Psychology & Symbolism Inspired by Carl Gustav Jung, my work explores the relationship between conscious and unconscious experiences, archetypal patterns, dreams, personal symbolism, and the process of individuation. Symbols are approached not as fixed meanings, but as opportunities to explore emotional experiences, recurring patterns, and aspects of ourselves that may not yet be fully understood. Phenomenological & Humanistic Psychology The phenomenological perspective invites us to understand life as it is personally experienced. Your feelings, perceptions, relationships, and interpretations of the world are central to our therapeutic work. I believe that meaningful psychotherapy begins by listening to your experience without imposing predetermined explanations. Existential Psychology & Viktor Frankl's Logotherapy Drawing inspiration from Viktor Frankl's work, I also value the exploration of personal meaning, freedom, responsibility, values, and purpose. This perspective can be especially meaningful when navigating grief, existential uncertainty, identity questions, and significant life transitions. Freudian Psychoanalytic Perspectives Freudian concepts of unconscious processes, defense mechanisms, early relational experiences, and internal conflicts provide additional theoretical resources for reflecting on emotional patterns and their possible origins. These perspectives are incorporated thoughtfully, according to each person's needs and the clinical relevance of the material. ✦ Areas of Therapeutic Focus My practice welcomes individuals seeking support with: - Anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm - Relationships, attachment, and recurring emotional patterns - Grief, loss, and life transitions - Self-esteem, identity, and self-discovery - Emotional conflicts and personal development - Sexuality, intimacy, and relational difficulties - Existential questions, values, and the search for meaning - Dreams, symbolism, and exploration of the inner world ✦A Therapeutic Journey Created Around You There is no single path toward understanding ourselves. At Blum Psyche, our work begins with your story: what you have experienced, what matters to you, what challenges you are facing, and what you hope to understand or change. Together, we explore the psychological perspectives and therapeutic resources most relevant to your needs, seeking to develop greater emotional awareness, personal insight, and practical strategies for navigating everyday life. My intention is not to define who you are, but to offer a thoughtful, collaborative space in which you can explore your own understanding of yourself. Psychotherapy is not about rewriting your story. It is about discovering new ways to understand it, embrace its complexity, and move forward with greater awareness and freedom. At Blum Psyche, your individuality is not something to overcome. It is where our work begins. You are warmly invited to begin your therapeutic journey.
