Psychotherapist,
Relationship Therapist | LGBTQ
Dublin 2, Dublin.
Hi! I'm Owen, a humanistic & integrative psychotherapist and counsellor. I work with a broad range of issues. However I also specialise in LGBTQ+ and Gender, Sexual & Relationship Diversities (GSRD) therapy. This means that I will provide full acceptance of who you are, regardless of how you identify. I view no person or issue as being more important than another. I see both of us working together as unique individuals. I've seen how life can throw many different challenges which can cause us to question our sense of self. Yet I also believe that such challenges can offer us opportunities to develop and grow - perhaps even flourish!
I work in collaboration with you, on your well-being journey. My aim is to help you find a better sense of who you are. This is done in a safe & confidential space where you are listened to, heard and where you feel accepted for being yourself. What you bring, I feel we will be able to explore together, leading to greater self-acceptance & better inner peace
Of course contacting a counsellor or therapist can feel daunting. I invite you to click on the link to my website, where you can learn a little about me and where you can see if you think I may be a good fit for you. If and when you are ready, feel free to get in touch, where we can have a brief chat and to see how I can help you on your well-being journey.

CORE SERVICES:
Deciding to start therapy can seem daunting. When we first meet I'll ask about your life and find out more you and what you expect or would like to obtain from our sessions. This will help me determine if I am a good fit for you and it will hopefully allow you to decide if you want to work with me.
I work in a person-centred way. Most of my sessions are long-term but perhaps you may decide that you'd just like to commit to five or six sessions. Regardless of the timeframe, we'll spend time talking and reflecting on what you say in ways to help you come to a better understanding of where you are, the emotions you are feeling and how to move forward.
As well as 4 years postgraduate training in humanistic & integrative psychotherapy and counselling, I have many years of experience working as a hospital social worker with patients and their loved ones across many medical specialties.
Taking the first step towards counselling or therapy can be formidable and scary. So hopefully by outlining the steps involved will help ease this unnerving feeling. Once you book an appointment with me, I will send you an e-mail with confirmation of our agreed date and time and with directions. The initial session will involve us completing an intake form with information including your contact details and a brief outline of your background. This form generally takes 20 minutes or so to fill out, after which you will have time to tell me what has brought you into counselling or therapy. Our first session will also provide an opportunity for me to outline the counselling or therapy process to you, discuss how we will work together, and for you to ask any questions. We can then decide how often we will meet for sessions and what issues we will work on.
This varies for person to person and individual needs. It may be as little as six sessions or it may span across several months or perhaps even longer. However you as the client are very much at the centre of any decision in relation to this. And we can regularly check in with each other to see if your needs are being met.
Counselling or psychotherapy will usually take place weekly with sessions being for duration of 50 minutes. We can meet for an initial consultation and where together we can collaborate a plan that can best meet your individual needs. Hopefully you will feel that the counselling or psychotherapy process will provide you with a space where you can be confident to express yourself freely, where you don’t feel judged, where you feel accepted and where we can gradually explore issues or problems that you may need support with.
