Nishani

Ms Nishani Jayawardena

Licensed Professional Counselor

The approach I take to therapy is centered around supporting the needs of clients and guiding them towards self-actualization. By creating a safe space, an individual can explore their most authentic self. I stand true to the roots of therapy where you are the expert of your life, and I, a source of guidance.

About Me

I offer a truly client-centred space where you are the expert of your own life. Here, we can safely explore your authentic self and nurture your journey towards self-actualisation. I guide individuals through challenges, often using EMDR to process difficult experiences. This collaborative approach helps you uncover inner strengths and navigate life’s complexities with clarity.

Approach

With steady curiosity and clear structure, I focus on how change happens in the room and between sessions, gently helping you notice patterns that no longer serve you. I offer in-person work in Detroit and online, in English or Singales, so we can keep momentum wherever feels most manageable. Sessions tend to blend focused skill practice, mindful reflection, and measured attention to troubling memories at a pace you set, with brief, practical experiments between meetings. This paced, collaborative way often suits people facing loss, life shifts, anxiety, or difficulties with substance use.
