Nicole Ohebshalom

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors

My clinical philosophy is rooted in the belief that psychological healing occurs within secure, responsive relationships and self. I view symptoms not as pathology to be eliminated, but as adaptive responses that once served an important purpose. Therapy, at its best, helps clients make sense of these patterns with compassion and curiosity, creating space for new choices and deeper connection. I am committed to ethical, relationally focused care and to ongoing professional growth. I value collaboration with referring providers and strive to offer continuity, clarity, and respect in all professional relationships.

About Me

I am a licensed psychotherapist with over three decades of clinical experience supporting individuals and couples through meaningful, lasting change. My work is grounded in deep relational presence, rigorous clinical training, and a respect for the complexity of the human nervous system. I specialize in working with high-achieving, intellectually driven adults who may appear highly functional on the outside while carrying invisible emotional burdens inside. Throughout my career, I have integrated evidence-based modalities with contemplative and somatic practices, allowing therapy to be both precise and humane. Colleagues often describe my work as warm, attuned, and depth-oriented, with a strong emphasis on emotional safety and collaboration.

Approach

My approach is relational, attachment-based, and experiential. I primarily work from an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) framework, informed by attachment science, neuroscience, and somatic awareness. Sessions are active and collaborative, focusing on present-moment emotional experience rather than intellectual analysis alone. I help clients slow down, track emotional and nervous-system responses, and identify the underlying attachment needs driving distress. This process supports greater emotional regulation, secure bonding, and an increased capacity for intimacy—with oneself and with others. When appropriate, I integrate EMDR, mindfulness-based practices, and contemplative approaches to support trauma resolution, emotional integration, and resilience. Treatment is always tailored to the individual or couple, with careful pacing and attention to readiness.
