Mr Mthandeki Zhange

Educational Psychologist

I am a passionate educational psychologist working with children, young adults and families. I mostly use psychodynamic approach to therapy, however I do use other therapeutic modalities depending on the unique needs of each client.

About Me

As an educational psychologist, I connect with children, young adults, and their families. I predominantly use a psychodynamic approach, helping clients make sense of their experiences and relationships. Sessions are always tailored to your unique needs. We explore underlying patterns that may be causing distress. This flexible style particularly suits those seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and their family dynamics. My aim is to foster clarity and positive growth.

Approach

Rather than quick fixes, I help young people and caregivers make sense of recurring patterns through depth-oriented, flexible work that follows each person’s pace. In Johannesburg I offer in-person and online sessions in English and Sesotho, creating a calm space where play, assessment and conversation blend to suit age and need. We work collaboratively—using observation, guided play, reflective dialogue and targeted assessments—to identify strengths, process painful experiences and practise small changes between sessions. This approach tends to suit families and young people seeking steady, thoughtful progress.
