Practitioners here are spread across a number of places rather than gathered in one. Each city below carries its own list. You can also filter for practitioners who work by video, wherever they are.

Therapy fees in Ireland are set by each practice. What a psychologist, psychotherapist or counsellor charges depends on their qualifications, the session length and where they work. If the fee is beyond your means, ask whether the practitioner offers a sliding scale based on income.

Look at community mental health services, training clinics, and any counselling your employer provides through an assistance programme.

Medical registration is the check that works today, because a psychiatrist is a doctor. For a psychologist, counsellor or psychotherapist there is no statutory register to check yet. CORU, Ireland's health and social care regulator, has registration boards for those professions, but their registers have not opened, so the titles are not yet reserved by law.

Ask which professional body the person belongs to and check that membership directly: the Psychological Society of Ireland, the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, or the Irish Council for Psychotherapy.

Membership of those bodies is voluntary, not a legal requirement. You can check a doctor on the Medical Council of Ireland register, and search the CORU register for the professions it already covers.
