Mrs Mhairi Jerga, M.Couns

Therapeutic Counselor

Many clients come to me feeling overwhelmed and stuck amid big life changes, unsure how to cope. I deeply understand the strain of trying to “start again” while holding everything together on the outside. Through counselling and practical support, I help them make sense of their feelings, feel less alone, and move toward calm and hope. I work with adults and young people navigating visible transitions like relocation, school changes, or parenthood, as well as quieter inner challenges such as menopause, anxiety, or depression. My approach is rooted in empathy, recognising how overwhelming these moments can be and offering a safe, compassionate space for clients to rebuild resilience at their own pace. This understanding comes from both lived experience and professional training, helping clients find steady ground in times of change.

About Me

My path into counselling was inspired by my work with refugees in Hong Kong, where I witnessed the impact of loss and uncertainty firsthand. Having grown up moving across countries and now navigating global life with my family, I bring a deep understanding of the challenges of transition and identity, topics I also explore through my podcast on third culture kids. With a Master’s in Counselling (Distinction) from Monash, ASIST training, and experience supporting adults, youth, and families facing changes like relocation, parenthood, menopause, anxiety, depression, and neurodiversity, I offer compassionate, personalised support. Together, we work collaboratively and at a steady pace, using practical tools to manage stress, celebrate your growth, and build lasting wellbeing.

Approach

From my refugee-sector work, I learned to tailor sessions at a steady, unhurried pace making space for what matters most to you, without overwhelm. In Singapore, I offer in-person and online sessions blending immediate problem-solving with simple between-session practices, like tracking negative thoughts, assessing values-aligned choices and simple skill-building. In our follow up sessions, we check in together on what worked, celebrate your wins, process any losses or shifts, and tweak tools collaboratively so you gain skills that last and feel truly supported along the way.
