My work is driven by insatiable curiosity and deep respect for human complexity. I believe it is a privilege to hold and to witness the distinctive nature of each client’s inner world. I am attentive to the ways psychological distress may manifest somatically, relationally, or through patterns of withdrawal and disconnection. I work with adults and adolescents, particularly around questions of identity, attachment, and trauma, paying close attention to how distress may speak through the body, silence, or feelings of inner exile.

About Me

I am a Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist in Beirut, Mount Lebanon. I work with people facing relationship issues, addiction, grief, mood disorders, stress and burnout. I provide couples counseling and individual psychodynamic- psychoanalytical therapy.

Approach

“Patients often describe feeling seen rather than managed, understood rather than analyzed, held rather than rushed in Ms. Mayda’s presence.” I adopt a psychodynamic approach, offering a space to explore the unconscious patterns that quietly shape choices, relationships, and emotional responses, while integrating CBT and DBT skills when needed. This allows me to move fluidly between depth-oriented exploration and structured interventions that support meaningful change. I work to understand the story beneath the symptom, creating greater freedom in how one responds to it. Together, we explore the subtle ways of managing closeness, power, dependency, and care. My approach extends beyond symptom relief, inviting self-knowledge, emotional integration, and a durable capacity to face complexity with curiosity rather than avoidance. I address self-sabotage, rigid patterns, and maladaptive routines while supporting sustainable change aligned with each client’s values. My clinical interests include cultivating self-compassion and integrating mindfulness. I have strong experience in working with grief related to professional identity, as well as difficulties in emotional expression and functioning, supporting clients in developing greater agency, clearer decision-making, and healthier communication and boundaries. Through this work, clients build emotional resilience, interpersonal effectiveness, and an increased capacity to manage stress and navigate challenges. I have worked with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults across key developmental stages and life transitions, including identity formation, family separation, parenthood, midlife reassessment, and career change. I have particular expertise in working with professionals and graduate students, and my work is grounded in a steady, attuned presence that respects the pace and individuality of each person’s internal world. I approach these concerns through a blend of psychoanalytic depth and, when appropriate, philosophical inquiry, tracing how these themes intersect with unconscious processes and relational patterns. Rather than imposing interpretations or solutions, I cultivate a therapeutic space in which insight, coherence, and transformation can emerge.
