Mr Mark Southwood

Clinical Psychologist

Therapist since 2012. Enjoy dealing with all sorts of different issues. Extensive experience of working with adolescent boys having been a schoolmaster for 13 years but like assisting men who are struggling and finding it difficult to discuss their problems and people having relationship issues.

About Me

I am a Clinical Psychologist in Menlo Park, Gauteng, South Africa. I assess and treat addiction, conduct and behaviour issues, brain injury, and children's mental health. I provide psychological and diagnostic assessment, family therapy, neuropsychology and sport psychology to individuals, families and athletes.

Approach

Years in schools and clinics taught me to keep things straightforward and practical so clients can speak without pressure. In Pretoria I offer face-to-face and online sessions in English and Afrikaans, and I keep focused check-ins between meetings when useful. Sessions move at your pace: we set short-term goals, use quiet reflection and structured assessment where needed, and bring family or sporting support into the plan when it helps. Men, parents and young people seeking down-to-earth, goal-oriented help tend to find this approach helpful.
