CORE SERVICES:
I use a trauma informed approach which consists of 4 main phases; the orientation phase, the psychoeducation phase, the intervention phase and post traumatic growth phase. I use a range of therapeutic modalities guided by attachment theory and psychodynamic theory of Carl Jung. My approach is client centric. The main modalities I use in my sessions include TF-CBT, mindfulness based psychotherapy (MBT), somatic work, inner child work and transference based psychotherapy.
Trauma informed framework is different than traditional talk therapy. The focus from the first session is on building a regulation system whereby helping you build your own support system to rely on, in a crisis situation outside therapy sessions. Thus, my approach works on equipping you with self regulation tools while going deeper into exploring the traumatic events that brought you to therapy.
I view symptoms as symbols revealing deeper psychological meaning and help clients explore these insights in a safe, non-judgmental, and empathic space. I don’t work with diagnostic labeling, but I can provide a psychiatric referral for the assessments if we feel the need for it.
The most common issues that client come to me with include emotional management, feeling a disconnect between their emotions, thoughts and behavior, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, anger outbursts, crying spells, frustration, confusion, food addiction, attachment issues, relationship problems, family relationship problems, feeling stuck, problems with decision making etc
Homework in therapy is very important. It is the 50% work that you have to do in order to make the 100% progress in therapy. I also recommend filling feedback form at least for the initial few sessions. It helps the client reflect on the session using prompts after the session. It also helps me as a clinician to tailor my approach according to my client's needs and comfort level.
Within the trauma informed approach, one session a week is recommended. However, if you have an ongoing crisis situation, 2 sessions a week for a maximum of 3 initial weeks can be done as an exception.
