Ms Lisa Padfield

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

An experienced and engaging psychologist, I have an established practice in Stellenbosch and also work online. My aim is to help you navigate the challenges of 'adulting', whether you are approaching midlife, find yourself there now or have already moved beyond that phase. I am interested in helping you grow as an individual, including addressing unfinished business, understanding self-defeating patterns, and exploring your strengths and talents. I also have a particular interest in end-of-life issues, death and dying. Talking about the inevitable end is often considered taboo, but doing so is the key to counteracting loneliness and allows for a gentler final chapter of our life journey.

About Me

Based in Stellenbosch, I am an experienced, engaging psychologist. I offer a dedicated, strictly confidential space to navigate the unique challenges of 'adulting'. I guide clients to gain clarity, deepen understanding and develop practical ways forward. My collaborative approach helps you feel understood and better equipped to manage life's evolving demands. I work both in-person and online. I am also a senior supervisor and offer a supportive space in which to address your needs as a mental healthcare practitioner (psychologists, counsellors etc.), including clinical work, ethical considerations, practice and financial management, ongoing professional development and self-care.

Approach

With clients approaching or moving through midlife, I conduct therapy as a practical, steady inquiry into what matters now. Sessions take place in Stellenbosch or online, in English or Afrikaans, and are paced to match your rhythm and feel immediately useful. Our work together is likely to explore losses, specific stress factors and role shifts, use focused reflection to sharpen decisions and consider changes which may ease burnout. This approach tends to suit adults looking for clear, usable steps through life transitions.
