Ms Lieva Starker

Music Therapist

I’m a psychodynamic Music Therapist and Specialist Wellness Counsellor, using verbal and non-verbal arts-based processes to explore unconscious material and foster integration of mind, body, and spirit. Authenticity and creating a safe, containing space are essential to my practice. I work with clients of all ages.

About Me

As a psychodynamic Music Therapist, I invite you to discover your inner landscape. We can explore unconscious material together through music and arts-based processes, particularly if words feel insufficient. My aim is to create a truly safe, containing space where all parts of you are welcome. Working at your pace, I help foster a deeper integration of mind, body, and spirit for clients of all ages.

Approach

Sessions often unfold through sound, movement and quiet reflection, guided by what emerges and at a rhythm that suits you. I meet people in Makhanda and online, in English or Afrikaans, keeping our work anchored by attuned listening, simple musical improvisation and gentle interpretation that links feeling, memory and behaviour. Between meetings you may notice subtle shifts in mood, body awareness and everyday choices as unconscious themes become more available to name and shape. This way of working often suits families, children with conduct questions and women seeking deeper personal development.
