Dr Laura Steckler

Clinical Psychologist

I have over 30 years of experience & specialise in Somatic & Mindfulness based approaches. I provide a safe & compassionate space.

About Me

With over 30 years' experience, I offer a compassionate space for your inner exploration. I specialise in Somatic and Mindfulness-based approaches. I guide you to connect with how your body holds feelings. We might gently explore sensations through present moment awareness. This can be transformative if you feel disconnected or overwhelmed by thoughts. My approach supports a deeper integration of mind and body for lasting well-being.

Approach

Gentle attention to bodily sensation shapes how I work, inviting small, curious experiments that track shifts in breath, posture and feeling. Sessions in my Edinburgh clinic or via secure online meetings move slowly, mixing guided awareness with gentle movement and reflective talk in plain English. We notice patterns that link pain, anxiety or intrusive thoughts to posture and breath, then practice small, manageable skills between sessions to alter those patterns. People coping with trauma, chronic illness distress or persistent worry often find this paced, body‑led way helpful.
