Kara Brown

Psychiatrist

I am a board-certified reproductive psychiatrist who has completed a fellowship in women's mental health. While I am able to treat a woman across her lifespan, I particularly enjoy working with women who are trying to conceive, pregnant and postpartum. I am licensed in Louisiana and Massachusetts.

About Me

As a board-certified reproductive psychiatrist, I understand the unique mental health needs accompanying women's journeys. I particularly enjoy guiding women through the emotional landscape of trying to conceive, pregnancy, and postpartum. My approach offers tailored support for the unique emotional and hormonal shifts of these times. Here, women find a compassionate space to navigate profound changes. We work together to build resilience and wellbeing during these sensitive life stages.

Approach

When people face fertility, pregnancy, or postpartum transitions I help them map symptoms into a clear plan that respects both emotional and biological factors. Sessions in my New Orleans office or via secure telehealth are paced to suit pregnancy rhythms—shorter check-ins when needed, longer visits for planning—and include careful assessment, collaborative risk–benefit discussion about treatment, and practical coping strategies to use between appointments. This approach supports clients seeking steady monitoring and thoughtful decision‑making through change.
