Julio Cervantes, MA

Psychotherapist

verified by TherapyRoute

I am a mental health expert with over 25 years experience helping people strengthen their relationships, improve life satisfaction, and their relationship with self. I work online and live between London (Psychotherapist) and Amsterdam (Therapist), seeing clients from expat communities and multi-cultural backgrounds. As a queer, Mexican-American therapist who has lived and worked across different countries, I have a deep understanding of how identity, culture, migration, and life experiences shape our mental health and relationships.

About Me

I am a bilingual psychotherapist working with individuals and couples who want greater clarity, emotional balance, and stronger relationships. Many of the people I support are thoughtful, capable professionals who feel stuck in recurring patterns of anxiety, disconnection, conflict, or self-doubt. I help clients improve communication, build trust, navigate cultural identity and life transitions, process grief and high levels of stress, and deepen intimacy and self-confidence. My approach is strengths-based, solution-focused, and person-centred — offering a space that is warm, structured, and direct. Therapy with me is collaborative and focused on helping you understand underlying patterns, develop effective tools for change, and make intentional decisions aligned with your values and long-term wellbeing.

Approach

I challenge my clients in sessions and additional assignments are sometimes given in order to further individual growth. I encourage you to find someone you feel comfortable with and meet you where you are in your life so that you can work together on reaching your personal goals.

Basic Information

Services

I am an Accredited and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and have been registered since 2019. My work in the UK follows the BACP Ethical Framework, including ongoing supervision, continuing professional development, and professional accountability. When working from the UK, I work as a psychotherapist. In the Netherlands, the title psychotherapist (psychotherapeut) is protected under the Individual Healthcare Professions Act (BIG Act). I am not BIG-registered and therefore do not use this title in NL. When working from the NL, I work as a Therapist, Mental Health Coach, Counsellor, and Therapeutic Mentor, providing psychologically informed support to individuals and couples in private practice, grounded in extensive international clinical experience and ethical standards.
