Ms Julia Yearwood

Therapeutic Counselor

I am an adolescent and family therapist providing intercultural therapies for young people and their families.

About Me

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Therapeutic Counsellor based in Sanderstead. I work with adolescents, young adults, and parents experiencing concerns related to abuse, parenting, and relationships. I offer pre-diagnostic assessments, family therapy, and counselling in a safe, supportive, and confidential setting.

Approach

I provide youth counselling, family counselling, and school-based counselling, as well as clinical supervision for children’s therapists and mental health consultation for educational and social care settings. My work is informed by an intercultural approach, with attention to how race, culture, beliefs, values, attitudes, religion, and language shape everyday experiences and wellbeing.

Basic Information

Services

Youth Counselling / MBT-A: These approaches support clients in identifying the difficulties they are experiencing and, using specific strategies and techniques, developing more effective ways of understanding and coping with them. This approach is particularly effective with older children and young people. Issues I have worked effectively with include ADHD, looked-after children, adopted children, bereavement, family breakdown, safeguarding concerns, abuse, behavioural difficulties, anxiety, depression, self-harm, self-esteem issues, and relationship difficulties. Family Counselling: I provide a safe space to explore family dynamics and any issues that may be affecting relationships within the family system. I support each member in understanding their own needs while also developing empathy for one another. This process helps families gain a deeper understanding of each other, build on existing strengths, and work towards positive and sustainable change within the family unit.
