Mr J.R. Hernandez

CBT Psychotherapist

“Still performing, but running on empty. I work with professionals and expats who keep delivering while carrying exhaustion, anxiety, or a low mood nobody around them sees. The work is structured rather than open-ended: a clinical assessment first, then a plan aimed at what keeps the problem in place, with progress measured session by session. Online, in English and Spanish, from Singapore.”

About me

J.R. Hernandez is a psychotherapist, burnout and mood disorders specialist, founder of Baseline Psychotherapy, and creator of the Baseline Psychotherapy Protocol, a process-based method for working with emotional reactions. He runs an online private practice, founded in New York in 2019 and based in Singapore, serving professionals, expats, and high performers worldwide, in English and Spanish, with clients from more than 21 countries. Trained in Medical Neuroscience at Duke University School of Medicine, with an Anxiety and Mood Disorders Specialization from the American Psychological Association and a Master in Emotional Intelligence from ISEP, Spain.

Approach

My approach is both process-based and evidence-based. I begin every case with a structured clinical assessment, design each intervention around the specific mechanisms maintaining the problem, and track progress through clear, observable outcomes. The method draws on cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, emotional intelligence training, and somatic regulation, and is supported by training in Medical Neuroscience at Duke University School of Medicine, an Anxiety and Mood Disorders Specialization with the American Psychological Association, and a Master in Emotional Intelligence from ISEP, Spain.

Services

Every case follows the same clinical logic and the plan is built around your specific situation. Clinical Assessment (Sessions 1 to 4): We assess symptoms, patterns, history, and physiology to identify what is maintaining the difficulty, so the intervention targets the right mechanisms from the start. Evidence-Based Intervention (Sessions 5 to 12): Based on what the assessment reveals, we design a targeted plan drawing from CBT, ACT, and somatic regulation, with clear priorities and a defined direction for each session. Measurable Outcomes (Session 12 and beyond): Progress is tracked in observable terms: fewer spirals, better sleep, faster recovery after triggers, more reliable follow-through. If something is not working, we adjust. Individual sessions (60 minutes), couples therapy (90 minutes, in English, Spanish, or both), and a free 15-minute consultation to assess fit. Online, via secure video, worldwide.
