Ms Jessica Mayson, MA

Arts Therapist

I am an Arts Therapist (drama therapy) in Cape Town. If you choose to connect with this creative, expressive approach to psychotherapy, I hope to create a warm and supportive therapy space for your specific needs. I work with children, adolescents and adults.

About Me

I am an Arts Therapist (drama therapy): a creative, expressive psychotherapy. Words are not the only language we can use; depending on your need we can use story, symbol, artmaking, movement, ritual and creative mapping to access that which often lies beyond words. These can support self-curiosity, and help find new perspectives on things that feel 'stuck'.

Approach

My therapy practice is a containing, curious, creative space for those who are seeking to understand and welcome all the parts of themselves. We often get stuck in patterns and set narratives, and struggle to imagine anything different – for ourselves or our relationships. I cannot provide solutions, but in a confidential and safe therapy relationship, I can walk alongside you as we try to understand your hurt, your health and your healing. I am passionate about working with women and those who are navigating life transitions, loss and shifting intergenerational patterns. My approach is humanistic, trauma-informed, & psychodynamic.
