Ms Idara Brown, MSc

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Verified

I am a Clinical Psychologist providing online therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, emotional distress, relationship difficulties, overthinking, self-worth concerns, and challenging life transitions. I offer a practical, collaborative approach to helping clients understand the patterns underlying their difficulties and develop healthier ways of thinking, feeling, responding, and relating.

About Me

I’m Idara Brown, a Clinical Psychologist and the founder of Brown Psychological Services. I work with adults who may appear to be coping well on the outside while experiencing anxiety, emotional distress, relationship difficulties, overthinking, or uncertainty about themselves beneath the surface. I believe therapy should be a space where you can be honest about what you are experiencing without feeling judged or reduced to a diagnosis. My role is to help you slow things down, make sense of what is happening, and understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I take a collaborative and compassionate approach to therapy. We work together to identify what is contributing to your difficulties and develop practical ways of responding that support meaningful, sustainable change. For clients who would like faith to be part of their therapy, I can also thoughtfully integrate Christian faith and Scripture into the therapeutic process.

Approach

My approach is primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing. I also draw on DBT-informed skills where appropriate to support emotional regulation and coping. CBT helps us examine the connections between thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and the situations in which difficulties arise. Rather than simply trying to eliminate uncomfortable thoughts or feelings, we work towards understanding them and developing more helpful ways of responding. Motivational Interviewing supports clients in exploring ambivalence, clarifying what matters to them, and making personally meaningful changes. Therapy is collaborative and tailored to your circumstances. We will work at a pace that allows us to understand the problem while also identifying practical steps you can begin applying in your everyday life. For clients who want a Christian approach, I can integrate faith and Scripture thoughtfully alongside psychological principles and therapeutic work.
