Dr Heather Bee

Psychologist

I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Oregon (#1653) and I maintain a private practice in Astoria, Oregon.

About Me

I have worked as a mental health therapist since 1999, and I opened my private practice in 2010 following a long tenure in college counseling settings. In my professional work, I value and cultivate collaborative relationships with medical colleagues to coordinate care and provide supportive, integrated treatment for my patients. I specialize in individual psychotherapy and comprehensive psychological evaluation services for adults (generally ages 18 and older) across a wide range of concerns and diagnoses. While I consider myself a generalist who enjoys working with diverse issues, I have particular interest and experience in helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, relationship and interpersonal concerns, and life transitions and adjustment challenges.

Approach

My approach to psychotherapy is integrative, with a strong foundation in Gestalt psychology and contemporary Gestalt therapy. I participated in an advanced Gestalt training group for over 20 years, and this perspective continues to guide and enrich my work. Gestalt therapy offers a unique lens in today’s mental health landscape: rather than focusing solely on symptoms or pathology, it is rooted in a model of healthy functioning. It is a humanistic and holistic approach, centered on present-moment awareness, authenticity, and the inherent capacity for growth. In our sessions, we will explore your here-and-now experience to uncover old, rigid patterns—thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors—that may have once served a purpose but no longer support the life you want to live. As you gain deeper self-awareness, you may find greater clarity, flexibility, and freedom in how you relate to yourself and others. The goal is not just symptom relief, but to live a richer, more satisfying, and engaged life, free from the unresolved or unfinished issues that can block fulfillment and growth. All professional jargon aside, my role as a therapist is to be a steady, collaborative partner in your process. While therapy can involve vulnerability and challenge, I will meet you with warmth, honesty, and compassion as we navigate it together.
