The Gay Therapy Center

Our mission at the Gay Therapy Center is to help gay people learn to love themselves and each other. Check out our 100+ articles on LGBTQ mental health and relationships on our website: www.thegaytherapycenter.com We are the largest private provider of LGBTQ-affirmative therapy in the US with over 40 therapists.

About Us

We provide counseling, psychotherapy, relationship counseling, and online therapy in Los Angeles, California. We work with individuals and couples to treat relationship problems, anxiety, and mood concerns in a private, professional setting.

Approach

Anchored in our commitment to LGBTQ-affirming care, we structure sessions around clear goals and steady, humane pacing that lets you name what matters most. Whether meeting in our Los Angeles clinic or online, with bilingual support in Spanish, sessions blend focused reflection, practical skills, and gentle challenge so change feels doable. Between appointments we often set brief experiments or small practice tasks to carry learning into daily life and track what shifts. This way of working suits people seeking collaborative, down-to-earth progress.

Basic Information

Services

We founded the Gay Therapy Center because we believe that it is important for LGBTQ people to feel like we are the focus of the healing process. We work with all kinds of people, and the emphasis of our work, training, reading, writing, and thinking is on the LGBTQ community.

When you work with a therapist at GTC, you won’t have to wonder if your therapist really “gets it” when it comes to being gay or queer. We are LGBTQ people who are devoting our careers to working with LGBTQ people.

Our gay therapists will help you understand yourself and your relationships more clearly. We are experts in helping you use that information to create practical and lasting improvements in your life. Whether you're single or in a relationship, our LGBTQ therapists can help you feel good about yourself so you can have a more satisfying life + more meaningful relationships.

We know that most people have little training in identifying and then sharing feelings. We’re good at helping you feel comfortable enough do to the sometimes confusing work of looking inside.

Our 38 LGBTQ therapists work with people from across the globe. We have therapy offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington, D.C. And, we offer services online to the rest of the world. We have clients from as far away as Australia and Europe. As the largest LGBTQ therapy provider we can offer the most choice of therapists, which means we have a therapist that is right for you.

Each therapist has been selected for their unique combination of top-notch clinical skills and intelligence, and their compassionate hearts. Adam D. Blum, MFT, the Founder and Director of the Gay Therapy Center, knows them all well and can help match you to the therapist best suited to your needs.
