Psychotherapist

verified by TherapyRoute

My training is in Educational Psychotherapy which is based on Psychoanalytic theory and weaves in psychotherapeutic and creative approaches. I am also particularly interested in Internal Family Systems where we think about the different internal parts of the individual. I currently work in a primary school, a secondary school, The Royal Academy of Music and have my own private practice.

About Me

I am a psychotherapist based in Greenwich, Greater London. My background is in education and have always worked with children, young people and young adults. I have experience of working with different learning needs, cultures and identities. My work has expanded to also working with adults and performers.

Approach

I believe that the most important starting point is establishing a good relationship with the client. I like to ensure that I am as transparent as possible by regularly reflecting on what I am thinking, so that the client knows who I am and what to expect from me. Throughout the therapeutic process, I continuously aim to understand how the client is most comfortable communicating and what the clients take on things are. This helps me to gauge a suitable approach including how fast or slow we should take things. For example, some students prefer direct talking therapy, whilst others prefer indirect creative therapy and some students like a mixture of the two. I am experienced enough to have faith in the process of psychotherapy and will endeavour for my client to share this faith with me and relax into it. Psychotherapy is not always easy, but with a good enough and trusting relationship, we can embark on the therapeutic journey together.
