About Me

My name is Deepa Karanam 🌻. I am a Counselling Psychologist and Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (GMBPsS), offering online one-to-one therapy for adolescents, young adults, and adults. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, burnout, emotional exhaustion, relationship difficulties, grief, and life transitions. Many of the people I support feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to make sense of their emotions, identity, or direction, sometimes without a clear reason why. My work is shaped by a belief that therapy does not require having everything figured out beforehand. It is a space to explore experiences thoughtfully and build understanding over time.

Approach

My work is client-centred, relational, and integrative, informed by humanistic and evidence-based practices. I work through a trauma-informed and queer-affirmative lens, with attention to creating a confidential, non-judgmental space where experiences can be explored safely and respectfully. I bring a grounded and attentive presence to sessions, using gentle curiosity to support exploration of difficult themes. The pace of therapy is shaped around your rhythm, balancing reflective exploration with practical tools, skill-building, and psychoeducation where helpful. You do not need to have clarity about your experiences before beginning therapy. The work involves noticing patterns as they unfold, making sense of emotional responses, and gradually developing greater awareness, agency, and steadiness in everyday life.
