I am a seasoned and experienced psychologist and marriage therapist in Sandton, working exclusively with adults, both in-person and online.

About Me

I view all therapy, whether with couples or individuals, as a pursuit of truth. Of what is true for a person, or true for a couple (or individuals in a couple). We often experience unease, anxiety and discord because we're struggling to accept our reality, and to come to terms with what it means. I help my clients to unpack and explore their inner worlds, and to make sense of what it all means, so that they can make empowered, conscious and liberated choices. I don’t believe that there is much more important, when embarking on a process of psychotherapy, than a natural “fit” between therapist and client. For this reason, I invite you to peruses site and contact me if you have any questions that would help you to feel comfortable, prior to scheduling an initial meeting. You're welcome to peruse my 2 websites: https://www.debbiebright.co.za and my online education platform https://www.theshrinkonyourcouch.com I also have a few transformational online programs that are 'plug-and-play' - for example: https://theshrinkonyourcouch.com/relationship-rehab that can be used as standalones, or as adjuncts/supplements to direct work with me.

Approach

Rather than offering quick fixes, I guide adults through steady, practical exploration of their relationship patterns, moving at a pace you find manageable. In my Sandton office or via English-language online sessions, we set clear agendas, balance emotional exploration with behavioural steps, and check in on progress each week. Therapy feels collaborative: we map triggers, practice new communication strategies in session, and use brief between-session reflections to anchor change. People navigating grief, burnout or relationship strain often find this grounded, problem-solving rhythm helpful.
