Mr Daniel Heath

Registered Professional Counselor

Psychodynamic Psychotherapist | Anxiety, Depression & Repeating Relationship Patterns. You may be coping on the outside — yet privately something feels stuck, repetitive, or quietly overwhelming. Perhaps anxiety keeps returning despite insight. Perhaps relationships follow a familiar and painful pattern. Perhaps you feel low, flat, or disconnected without fully understanding why. Or perhaps you are successful professionally but inwardly unsettled. I am an established psychodynamic psychotherapist with many years’ clinical experience working with adults experiencing both acute distress and long-standing emotional difficulties. Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers the opportunity to explore not only what is happening now, but how earlier experiences, attachment patterns and unconscious dynamics may be shaping present difficulties. When these patterns are understood — and felt within a consistent therapeutic relationship — something begins to shift. Clients often experience greater emotional freedom, more stable relationships, and a clearer sense of themselves. I work with: Depression and persistent low mood Anxiety, overthinking and chronic worry Repeating relationship patterns Attachment difficulties Trauma and developmental trauma Emotional numbness or internal emptiness Difficulties with intimacy Identity concerns Burnout and high-functioning stress and professionals who feel internally stuck despite outward competence. Some clients come seeking focused, shorter-term work around a specific issue. Others choose longer-term, open-ended therapy to explore deeper relational patterns and longstanding difficulties. We will think together about what feels most appropriate for you. My style is thoughtful, steady and engaged. I aim to provide a confidential and consistent space where you can speak freely and feel taken seriously. If you are considering therapy, I welcome you to get in touch for an initial consultation.

Approach

I have a wealth of experience to draw on and work in-person with clients in London and Online with those UK patients and those overseas. I am a participating member of the reduced fee service of the Number 42 Psychotherapy Service in London Bridge and a longstanding listening volunteer for a National Suicide Prevention Charity. Our work would begin by gaining some insight into your particular difficulties, background and circumstances. We would then work together to understand the dynamics behind these experiences, in the present and in relation to your past. We would aim to quickly establish how your are suffering and what might be preventing you being relieved of this pain, in your internal world. We would observe how you begin to understand the therapeutic relationship, as it develops. This will offer us an historic lens from which to challenge emotional coping strategies elicited by your current relationships. From this platform, we will begin to reflect upon your inner emotional world and upon those painful experiences that are perhaps otherwise difficult to connect with. My conceptual approach is psychodynamic/psychoanalytic and is informed by a wealth of theory, developmental research and literature. I am an avid reader and writer which nurtures an open, engaging perspective, underpinned by a determination to wrestle uncertainty and discover truth. My theoretical stance is continuously informed by contemporary clinical literature, continued professional development and experiential training environments. My practice is contemporary and forward thinking. I am particularly interested in seeing people suffering relational conflict and/or codependency however, I work with a wide range of patients based in the UK and those living and working overseas, such as Expats or English speakers from other countries.
