“I help children, teens and young adults through anxiety, low mood, school struggles and family changes like divorce. Using play, conversation and family work, I create a warm space where young people feel understood and learn how to move forward.”

About me

My practice is called In Context because I believe no one struggles in isolation. We make sense once we look at the world we live in: our families, schools, friendships and histories. My experience includes inpatient psychiatric care, play therapy and school counselling, which has taught me to meet each young person where they are, whether they're facing everyday stress or a real crisis. I'm warm and down to earth, and you don't need the right words to start. Younger children often play or draw, while older clients talk at their own pace. I also support older adults facing loneliness or life changes. Sessions are available in English and Afrikaans, online or in person.

Approach

My work is therapeutic. I believe change needs three things: willingness, insight and knowing how. Willingness is being open to trying something different. Insight is understanding why you feel and react the way you do. Knowing how is having the practical skills to actually do things differently. I draw on play therapy, counselling, family therapy and CBT, choosing what fits each person rather than following one fixed method. Alongside exploring feelings and patterns, I explain what's happening in a way that makes sense and help build practical skills for everyday life, like managing anxiety, handling conflict or getting back into routine. Where it helps, I involve parents or family, because change lasts longer when the people around you understand it too. My practice focuses on therapeutic work and does not offer statutory or child protection services.
