About Me

I'm a Colombian clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience, including practice in New York and Bogotá. My work is psychoanalytically grounded, meaning we don't only manage symptoms, we look at the patterns underneath them. A significant part of my practice serves bicultural and binational couples: Colombian–North American, Latin American–European, and other cross-cultural pairings where one partner speaks Spanish, the other English, and both are building a shared life across two families, two cultural registers, and two ways of being in the world. I also work with Colombians living abroad, expatriates in Bogotá, and adults navigating the intersection of demanding professional lives and complex personal ones. Sessions are available in English and Spanish, in person in Bogotá (Chicó) or virtually worldwide. Care is delivered from Colombia.

Approach

This work is a process, and it begins in the first session. Not because answers appear immediately, but because there is immediate relief in finally being able to say the thing out loud, in a space where nothing has to be managed or performed. My practice is structured around three populations that often overlap: Bicultural and binational couples building a life between cultures: Beyond the standard work on communication, intimacy, and shared project, much of the work involves the cultural register inside the conflict, what one partner intuits and the other doesn't yet have words for. We work in whichever language allows each partner to say what is actually difficult to say. Colombians abroad and expatriates: The ambivalence about leaving, the long-distance relationship with family, the question of returning, parenting between cultures, the loss of a local support network, these are clinical material, not background. Adults carrying something from early in life that keeps appearing, in different forms, in the present, in relationships, in decisions, in how one reacts.

Bicultural & Binational Couples Therapy: A clinical space for couples building a life across two countries, two languages, and two cultural registers. Sessions move between English and Spanish so each partner can say what is actually difficult to say. Couples Therapy: Work on the dynamics of the bond: communication, intimacy, recurring conflicts, and the shared life project. For couples in Bogotá and for Colombian couples living abroad who want a therapist from their own cultural register. Individual Psychotherapy for Adults: For adults navigating the intersection of demanding professional lives and complex personal ones. We work on the patterns that keep repeating, in relationships, in decisions, in how one reacts, to understand their origin and stop repeating them. Psychodynamic Orientation: All of my work is psychoanalytically grounded; we look at the patterns underneath the symptoms, not only the symptoms themselves. The aim is understanding, because lasting change follows from understanding, not from technique. Intake: A complimentary 10-minute video call precedes the first session, a brief meeting before deciding to begin.
