Mrs Brittney George

Licensed Professional Counselor

My strongest desire is to support the unburdening of people from external & internal barriers and foster liberation through one being their most authentic Self.

About Me

I hold licenses as a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor in Richmond, Virginia. I help adults recover from abuse, manage life transitions, repair relationships, and reduce stress, burnout, or postnatal and perinatal depression. I provide individual and psychodynamic therapy, advocacy, and psychoeducation in a confidential, practical way.

Approach

In the nearly 9 year span of my career, I've been able to work in multiple treatment environments -- using a variety of traditional and nontraditional modalities. From Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to the creative arts, talk therapy and play, I love to make my methods as individualized/special as those who seek my services. I am currently pursuing my Registered Play Therapy credential and have training in trauma focused care. When not at work, I volunteer for a local mental health agency that creates programming for maternal mental health.

Services

I work with the entire lifespan; from early childhood to the elderly. However, I have a passion for children and the family system. I love to work with intergenerational issues; ranging from postpartum concerns, attachment ruptures, and advocacy needs for parents with mental illness. I also love working with marginalized people groups; holding space for those who may not have access to any other arenas to feel heard and understood.
