Ms Barbara Freedman, M.Ed

Mental Health Counselor

Need a safe place to express your feelings and concerns? Upon working with Victim Services clients in my home town, for the past 9 years, as a Mental Health Worker, I am dedicated to counseling and healing, specializing in crisis intervention and abuse, along with complicated grief and trauma informed counselling.

About Me

I am a Mental Health Worker/Counselor from Ottawa Ontario providing counseling for people affected by abuse, trauma, LGBTQ concerns, as well as SOS(Survivors of Suicide)-those who are grieving the death of a loved one or family member by suicide.

Approach

My theoretical framework to counselling, along with the interventions I make use of ,are eclectic, drawing on a wide array of modalities, in accordance with each client’s individualized needs and preference. I offer certification in Crisis & Suicide Intervention, along with training in Object Relations Therapy (a method widely practiced with victims of trauma In addition, I am a trained Survivors of Suicide(SOS) facilitator for those who are grieving the death of a loved one, or family member, who died by suicide. As a survivor myself, this offers me a much more sensitive perspective from which to draw on. I feel that there is a clear need, for specific training and expertise, to assist this very special category of mourners.
