Ms Amy Crankshaw

Educational Psychologist

In my practice as a therapist, I am inspired by the philosophy underpinning Kintsugi. The art of repairing pottery with gold lacquer, creating something stronger and more beautiful than before. Similarly, therapy invites us to embrace our wounds, acknowledge our vulnerabilities, and find beauty in our resilience

About Me

I create a welcoming space where children, young people, and families explore paths to well-being. Through Play Therapy, I help younger clients express feelings and make sense of their world. For adolescents and adults, psychotherapy offers a supportive environment to navigate personal growth. I also provide career assessments, guiding individuals to discover fulfilling future directions. This holistic approach supports everyone in building resilience.

Approach

Like kintsugi, therapy here unfolds as careful, paced repair: we follow what breaks open and gently fit new meaning into those gaps. Sessions in Johannesburg or online, in English, feel practical and warm—often slipping between play, reflection and short tasks to try between meetings so changes meet everyday life. I use simple activities, story and diagnostic feedback to help families, young people and adults notice patterns, test new responses and celebrate small strengths. This approach suits those ready for steady, collaborative change.
