Sometimes life can challenge and confront us in unplanned and unexpected ways. You might be wanting to develop more self-confidence, trust, and self-awareness. There might be a need to have support in navigating relationships. Or perhaps a major life transition or trauma has turned everything upside down. I also understand when things are together on the outside, but internally, there might be the feelings of stuckness disconnection, a general unease, or the nagging of deeper questions connected to direction and meaning. I welcome clients who are navigating different life chapters and consider there to be no needed prerequisite for starting therapy.

About Me

My formal training was through the Cairnmillar Institute and I hold a Postgraduate Diploma of Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am also registered with PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia). My style of working is collaborative, process oriented and relational. I primarily work through a Humanistic Person Centered framework. My work as a therapist has also been informed through my interest Analytical Psychology as well as my own personal Jungian analysis. Before training in Counselling & Psychotherapy I have worked across documentary, live arts, education, and arts facilitation with both young people and adults. I have come to understand that this background in the creative arts has served as a helpful background for Counselling. I value letting a process emerge in it's own organic time and way, understanding curiosity and care to be central in a healing process. My work in the educational sector has also given me insights into the challenges and complexities many young people are navigating.

Approach

Central to my practice is the building of a supportive therapeutic environment that is warm, respectful, non-judgemental and confidential. I also understand how important it is to feel respected, deeply listened to and understood within one's unique history and context. I primarily work through a Humanistic Person Centered framework- which means that I see each client as the expert of their lived experience. I make sure that client preferences, needs and values guide the therapeutic process and our work together is collaborative.
