Ms Amanda Rykaart, BA

Registered Counselor

verified by TherapyRoute

I offer a grounded, compassionate space where you can begin to make sense of what you have been through, whether you are navigating trauma, an unexpected life crisis, or the weight of grief. As an HPCSA Registered Counsellor, I walk alongside you at your own pace, holding both the complexity of your experience and your capacity to move through it.

About Me

I have an affinity for working with adults who are struggling with the after-effects of singular or multiple traumatic events; negotiating a life crisis that feels insurmountable, the impact of exposure to extreme events at their workplace and overwhelming loss and grief. My lived experience of neurodiversity, an adverse childhood and the resultant relational difficulties, together with multiple losses, contributes to the trusting relationship to be built. It also eradicates some shame a client may feel in revealing their experience and their response thereto.

Approach

I have a holistic approach to my clients by providing support that takes the whole person into consideration, encompassing their physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being. It can be summed up in this quote : “You can’t really know where you are going until you know where you have been.” — Maya Angelou
