Sometimes life presents us with challenges that we have difficulty resolving. It may be because the task at is too difficult, or because our skills are not up to par or, maybe, because the issue we dealing with is overwhelming us emotionally and touching old wounds. My role is to help you define the problem in a way that is solvable and develop the coping skills necessary, so that you may have a happy and productive life, filled with meaningful experiences and connections

About Me

I like my work. I feel it is an honor and a privilege to be allowed into my patients' lives and to walk some of their life's path together. Sometimes the time spent together is relatively brief , sometimes it may last for years. I bring to my work may years of training and clinical experience, but, also my personal life experience. I have trained and worked in the United States for many years before returning to my home country, Greece. My family history and life experience has made me particularly sensitive to issues of expatriation, cultural differences, prejudice and transgenerational trauma and transformation. People ask me whether I get depressed from my patients' stories. I actually find deep meaning in my work and I am gratified to see people heal, change and grow. I strive to be happy and inject humor into my life and my work at every opportunity.

Approach

I work with individually with adolescents and adults and systemically with couples and families, I strive to listen very carefully to my patients. We work together to understand the nature of the difficulties they are facing and develop solutions that will work for them. Except in very brief problem-focused therapy, our work usually includes understanding connections between the past and the present. For, if we do not understand how we got here, it is difficult to figure out how to move forward. Whether I am working with an individual, a couple or a family, my approach also focused on the quality and strength of our relationships and connections. I believe that we are social animals and that we need to live and grow in relation with others , rather than isolated and alone. I am direct and informal in my style. I abhor psychotherapeutic masks. I may inject some of my personal experiences in my conversations, if I may feel it may be helpful. I don't feel I hold the answers to my patients' dilemmas, but rather, that my role is to help develop the answers that work for them.
