Mr Alex Karumi, MA

Psychologist

I am committed to walk a journey of change and hope together with my clients as we explore the solutions that they may not readily see in their lives. As my equal partner, I believe collaborating with my clients will help us find solutions for the challenging moments in their lives.

About Me

I am a counseling Psychotherapist who is based on online platforms . I choose this mode since I know the busy schedules that people may have in their lives, thus committing not to leave them out. I do scientific based assessments and help the clients experience positive changes from their life challenges. I help clients manage depression, trauma, anxiety, grief, and phobias using evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, REBT, EMDR. Guided by beneficence and confidentiality, I see every client as an equal partner and together, we unpuzzle the challenging puzzles in their lives.

Approach

When clients come to me for help, I take them as people who are entrusting their care to me. Clients have the capacity to change and steer their lives in a manner that helps them or significant others. My role as their therapist is to explore the avenues of change and motivate my clients towards the change. My approach is integrative which helps me meet the clients at their point of need. Since every client is unique, I borrow from different approaches like Reality, narrative, person-centered, CBT, REBT, and DBT, and come up with an integrative way that suits the client’s needs. In my practice, I treat clients as equal partners and we help each other navigate their life challenges which gives me an insight and direction for treatment plan. Through techniques like Motivational Interviewing and goal setting, we walk a journey of change together with the client. Along the way, we do assessments as we monitor our milestones and we adjust our intervention accordingly. I offer my clients a chance to learn some regulation techniques like mindfulness, breathing techniques, and general awareness practices. At the core of my practice is a Person-Centered framework, where I offer a nonjudgmental, empathetic, and supportive environment, empowering clients to grow at their own pace and direction. This flexible, compassionate, and collaborative approach allows for tailored, meaningful therapeutic experiences. I will be delighted as we navigate the life solutions together.
