I offer a supportive space for those navigating cultural shifts, identity confusion, and life’s messy transitions. My approach is simple: honest connection without the clinical script. Together, we’ll untangle old patterns and find your voice, moving beyond just surviving toward living with clarity and presence

About Me

I am Aishwarya Kulkarni, a UK-registered psychotherapist (MBACP) with roots in Mumbai and a deep belief in the power of honest, human connection. I’ll admit: writing about myself like this feels quite awkward. I’d much rather meet you in conversation, where pauses, eye contact, and silences can do their quiet work. However, I know how important it is to trust the person you choose to walk alongside, especially when navigating life's "in-between" spaces: cross-cultural shifts, identity confusion, and transitions that don’t come with tidy instructions. Growing up in Mumbai and later moving to the UK during the pandemic, I learned firsthand what it means to feel like a stranger, even to oneself. That season of uncertainty reshaped how I show up in the therapy room, teaching me that survival isn’t the end goal; living with presence and connection is. Today, my practice integrates Person-Centred warmth with Psychodynamic, Narrative, and Transactional Analysis tools to help you listen to the parts of yourself that may not have had a voice before. Beyond theory, I bring my own humanity to our sessions. Having been in therapy myself for years, I understand the courage it takes to soften toward the parts of us we once avoided. Whether I am grounding myself through the rhythm of Kathak dance or the tactile truth of painting, I carry the belief that healing is about untangling and reconnecting with who you truly are. I don’t promise certainty, but I do offer steadiness and a space where your contradictions are always welcome.

Approach

Assimilative Integrative Therapy: My practice is grounded in a Person-Centred philosophy, meaning I meet you with genuine warmth, empathy, and a lack of judgment. I believe that lasting change doesn't come from being "fixed," but from being understood. To support this, I use an Assimilative Integrative framework, maintaining a steady core of relational safety while thoughtfully drawing on specialised tools to meet your unique needs. To help us navigate your inner world, I integrate: Transactional Analysis (TA) & Psychodynamic Tools: We look at the "life scripts" and relational patterns formed in your past that may be keeping you stuck in the present. Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): We work directly with your feelings, not as problems to solve, but as vital guides toward healing and deeper connection. Narrative Therapy: We explore the stories you carry about yourself, often shaped by culture or trauma, and work to reclaim your role as the author of your own life. Internal Family Systems (IFS): We hold space for your "parts", the protectors, the critics, and the wounded places—fostering internal compassion and harmony. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model. By blending these approaches, I can offer both the structure needed to understand complex family dynamics and the flexibility to sit with the "unspoken" through metaphor and creativity. Whether we are using traditional dialogue or creative tools like painting and symbolism, the goal is the same: to help you move from survival to living fully, with presence and clarity.

Basic Information

In-person & Online

Services

I work with individuals, couples, and families who are tired of just "getting by" and are ready to live more fully. Whether you are navigating the heavy silence of a relationship, the disorientation of a major life transition, or a long-standing sense of not belonging, I offer a space that honours your pace. I don't treat you as a set of symptoms to be managed, but as a person with a complex, valid story that deserves to be heard in its entirety. Our work is active and collaborative. While we talk, we also look for the language that exists beyond words. This might mean using metaphor, exploring the physical sensations of an emotion, or even using a set of Russian dolls to help us visualise the different "layers" of your personality. I bring a blend of curiosity and steadiness to the room, along with the occasional bit of gentle humour to help navigate the harder truths. Identity & Belonging: For those feeling "in-between" cultures, roles, or versions of themselves. Relational Patterns: Untangling the "scripts" we play out in couples and family dynamics. Emotional Resilience: Moving through anxiety, grief, or numbness toward a place of clarity. I believe therapy should feel like a human conversation rather than a clinical intake. If you are seeking a space where your contradictions are welcome and your voice is finally the loudest one in the room, I would be honored to work with you.
