Mrs Adél Coetzee

Registered Play Therapist

I am an experienced Play therapist with a background in education. I am passionate about helping children.

About Me

As an experienced Play Therapist, my educational background deeply informs my approach with children. I help young people navigate big feelings and challenges. Through creative play, they can explore their world and express what words cannot. This builds confidence and resilience. My understanding of school life and child development helps me connect with children facing anxieties, whether at home or school.

Approach

Children lead the way in sessions, and I follow with gentle scaffolding to help them name feelings and try new responses. In my Somerset West consulting room I work in Afrikaans or English, keeping rhythm short and predictable so anxious or grieving children feel safe to explore through drawing, games and story. Between meetings I share straightforward observations and suggestions for school or home to reinforce small changes. This way of working suits families seeking calm, practical support through transitions, behaviour or learning challenges.
