About Me

There are times when life changes in ways we didn't expect — through grief and loss, relationship difficulties, major life transitions, burnout, or simply reaching a point where the way we have been living no longer feels quite right. As a Narrative Counsellor, I offer a collaborative and compassionate space where we can explore your experience together. Narrative Therapy invites us to look at the stories that have shaped our understanding of ourselves and our lives, while also noticing the strengths, values, relationships and possibilities that may have become less visible. I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you who you are or what your story should be, but to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions and walk alongside you as you make sense of what has happened, what matters to you, and where you might want your story to go next. My work is informed by Narrative Therapy and enriched by trauma-informed practice, grief and bereavement work, relationship work, Spiritual Direction and Enneagram-informed exploration. These perspectives are woven into our conversations according to what is meaningful and appropriate for you, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. My work is also informed by an appreciation for spirituality, meaning and the questions that arise when we are making sense of our lives and experiences. Where it is helpful to the client, I am comfortable making space for questions of faith, spirituality, meaning and purpose within our conversations. Whether you are facing a particular difficulty or simply sense that something in your life needs attention, therapy can provide a space to slow down, listen differently and make room for new possibilities.

Approach

I work primarily from a Narrative Therapy perspective. Narrative Therapy understands that people are not the problem — the problem is the problem — and that our lives are shaped by the stories, relationships, meanings and experiences through which we understand ourselves. Treating your life as a living narrative, I listen for the threads that have shaped your story, the meanings you have made of your experiences, and the moments that may point towards something different. Together we can explore the stories you have inherited, the stories that have become dominant, and the alternative stories that may already be present in your life. My approach is collaborative, curious and respectful. I don't see myself as the expert on your life; rather, I bring questions, reflections and therapeutic knowledge while recognising you as the expert on your own experience. My work is also trauma-informed and may draw on my experience in grief and bereavement, relationships, Spiritual Direction and Enneagram-informed work where these perspectives are helpful and appropriate. The aim is not to create a different version of you, but to make space for the parts of your story, values, relationships, hopes and preferred ways of living that deserve greater influence.
