About Me

Founder and Managing Trustee of Jeeva Rakshai Mental Health Wellness Centre and Jeeva Rakshai Trust, is a Counselling Psychologist with over 17 years of dedicated experience in mental health, addiction recovery, counselling and rehabilitation, having supported more than 9,000 individuals and families through her practice. With compassion, courage and commitment, she has worked with people struggling with addiction, emotional distress, trauma, psychiatric disorders, family conflicts and behavioural challenges, focusing not only on treatment but also on restoring confidence, dignity, emotional strength and purpose in life. Her areas of expertise include rehabilitation counselling and suicide prevention, marital and family counselling, trauma-focused therapy, psychotherapy for psychiatric and psychological disorders, anger management and behavioural therapy, and counselling support for survivors of domestic violence, abuse and emotional trauma. Through professional counselling, trauma-focused therapy and empowerment-based recovery approaches, many individuals who once faced hopelessness, suicidal thoughts and social isolation have gone on to rebuild their lives by moving forward into education, employment, family stability and emotional recovery, supported by a safe, confidential and respectful environment. She has served as Consultant Psychologist with the Tamil Nadu Prison Department, working with Central Prison I & II and the Special Prison for Women, Puzhal, Chennai, and has collaborated with the Tamil Nadu Discharge to Prisoner's Aid Society (TNDPAS) under a pilot scheme providing post-release psychological support, rehabilitative counselling and trauma-focused intervention for individuals affected by incarceration, substance use and social stigma. Her leadership extends to various professional and social organisations, where she promotes mental health awareness, legal awareness and community development. She has contributed to public awareness through media appearances, expert talks and published articles on addiction and mental health, and has been invited by numerous institutions to serve as chief guest and guest speaker, with her addresses helping strengthen community engagement across diverse platforms — including appearances on Vijay TV's Neeya? Naana? and Sun TV's Nijangal, along with published articles in Kungumam Doctor magazine.

Approach

Experience in de-addiction and psychiatric rehabilitation shapes how I guide our work, keeping it focused and goal-oriented while staying attuned to your pace. In Chennai I meet clients in English or Tamil, offering both clinic and online sessions that balance structure with warmth. We use assessment-informed steps, mix skills rehearsal with reflective exploration, set manageable between-session tasks, and regularly review progress together. Those navigating addiction, relationship strain, or complex psychiatric concerns often find this steady, practical rhythm helpful.
